Pack Campouts

General Campout Information

Pack 680 holds two campouts each year, one in the fall and one in the spring.

Check your email or the pack calendar for specific event details.

Rules for pack campouts:

1. Supervision: All Cub Scouts and siblings must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is required to remain with the Cub Scout for the entire time. If someone other than the parent or guardian will supervise a scout or sibling, the Cubmaster must be notified ahead of time who it is.
2. Responsibilities: Participants are responsible for bringing camping gear. Dens are responsible for meals, including food, drinks, plates, utensils, trash bags, and cooking gear. Each den is responsible for clean-up, trash removal, and extinguishing campfires in designated areas. Leave no trace!
3. Safety: Boys should not run in the campsite (near the tents), near a fire, or at night. Tripping over roots or tent lines causes the most injuries in the pack. Lights out is at 10:00 pm.
4. Alcohol, Tobacco, and Drug Policy of the Boy Scouts of America: Alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and controlled substances are not permitted. Smoking areas for adults must be located away from all participants.

Camping Supplies Packing List

Camping Equipment:

• Tent, poles, and stakes
• Sleeping bags
• Air mattresses or sleeping pads
• Waterproof ground cloth or plastic sheet (optional)

Clothing:

• Cub scout uniforms (Class B worn during the day / Class A worn during ceremonies and campfire)
• Durable closed-toe shoes
• Warm jacket or coat in case it gets cold at night
• Sweatshirt and pants or pajamas for sleeping
• Extra clothing as desired (a full change of clothes for Sunday morning; the scouts usually do not care)
• Poncho or Rain coat (if the weather forecast predicts rain)

Toiletry Kit:

• Toothpaste, toothbrush
• Washcloth, towel (optional)
• Soap in container (optional)

Safety:

• Flashlight (check the batteries)
• Water bottle
• Sunscreen
• Insect repellent
• First aid kit (optional: the pack brings a first-aid kit)
• Whistle (optional: it is good for the scouts to have one with them at the “woodsier” camps)

Family Gear:

• Camp or lawn chairs (as desired)
• Cooler or ice chest with extra drinks and snacks for personal use (as desired)
• Frisbees, balls, etc. (as desired)

Meal Supplies (coordinated with den):

• Plastic or paper cups, plates, and utensils
• Paper towels
• Food for meals
• Cooking equipment and utensils
• Trash bags
